M1 reaches out to youths with cinema advertising combining life action footage shot and composited motion graphics animation. Shot with ultra high definition 4k Red One camera and delivered at film resolution.
Cinema advertising created for M1. This film production was shot on high resolution 4k and delivered at 2k for cinema print. Animated characters and motiongraphics were added in post production and motion tracked to the life action shots of talents dressed in t-shirts.
Production Process
With a tight production schedule, everything was shot in studio over 8hours.
The unique workflow of editing on location during the film production process allowed agency and clients to check for continuity and how the shots lined up for effects work. A pre visualized rendering of the animated graphics to be composited was overlaid on the footage for timing purposes. And a rough pre-visualized shoot was done in advance and edited to the 30 second requirement.
Although a storyboard was used and constantly referred to, it would have been impossible to complete the project in the tight schedule without the ability to instantly review the editorial while the performances are being captured.

Zuji television commercial gets hand drawn and animated as a 2d cell animation in Singapore.
Using Zuji’s corporate cyan and white, characters were illustrated using simple paintbrush strokes to give it a “raw feel”.
In this 45-sec television commercial, the main characters are seen wearing similar white ‘Free Size’ t-shirts. From the fat boy who has trouble keeping his t-shirt from flapping up, a petite girl who has to deal with the over-sized t-shirt slipping off her shoulder, a muscular man flexing his muscles under his taut t-shirt, to the tall guy whose t-shirt might be a little too short for his fit. Truly one size does not fit all, and when you travel with Zuji, you get to choose from hundreds of airlines and thousands of hotels to create your perfect holiday package!
It was an intensive 2 weeks’ worth of post-production with this 2D cell-animated TV commercial! From illustrations to animating

Lifestyle TV commercial for Dutch bank ABN Amro. Created with bluescreen and virtual set creation.
Production for this TV commercial was shot entirely on a Canon DV XL1s with prime cine-lenses, hooked up with the PS Technik adaptor.
Two versions (Local and International) were shot in a period of 1 day.
To save time as a suitable outdoor location could not be found, the reversed shot showing the end of the golf swing against the talent’s house, was shot on-location against a bluescreen and was composited against a house (that had been pre-selected and approved).

TV commercial featuring Mark Richmond and The Flying Dutchman - in a conversation about how much they love Sydney, Australia.
Class 95FM partners up with Australian Tourism Board in a bid to promote a radio show that involves taking a chosen family to Australia and getting participants to perform challenges.
This television commercial was on location at the Class 95FM recording studio, featuring Mark Richmond and The Flying Dutchman- in a conversation about how much they love Sydney, Australia.
In this video many of the shots had both characters framed within the same shot and multiple takes from various angles created enough footage to be flexible in the edit suite during post production. Careful editing of this tv commercial allows us to to immerse the viewers in the conversation.
This television commercial was aired on Channel 5.

30-sec flip book style video production for recruitment company The GMP Group, showing children and their aspirations.
This video production started off with a photography shoot with the intention of turning it into an animated flip book.
With such a tight production schedule, we decided early on in pre production that a simple and focussed message was the way to go given the short amount of time allocated to actual production.
The black and white hight contrast look was decided as this allowed us to hide distracting elements in the shadows and allowed us to lead the viewers eyes and attention to parts of the video. It also meant that we didn’t need to be as careful with the color palette of the wardrobe and props.
Shooting this video in very challenging mix lighting conditions would have added unnecessary delays to the production. To do away with having to balance different light temperatures, all color is discarded in post production and blacks are crushed for that high contrast look.
This video production was more of a stills photography shoot with 600w studio strobes than continuous video lights. The light weight lights allowed quick scene setups during the production process.

Motion Media Works creates 3D animated TV commercial for energy drink.
The can was modeled in Lightwave whilst the label was stitched together from photos of a physical can - deformed and keyframed with bones.
Water droplets on the can were carefully placed mesh objects with refraction applied and raytraced when rendered.
Bubbles were rendered with hypervoxels in Lightwave, allowing the camera to get up-close to the bubbles without getting any jaggies, which would have been the case with using actual mesh objects.
Pouring of water in the scene was achieved with a cylinderical mesh with a multiple ripple and noise procedural textures applied, followed by animation along length of the cylinder.
