Acclaimed fashion designer and textile artist, Benny Ong, invites us into his gallery in this video production, and shares his inspiration behind his collection. ‘Peranakan’ is a series of tapestry that combines bold modern day graphic prints with the details of Peranakan (Straits Chinese) culture. His series of art is a hybrid of cross-cultural heritage and interpretations. The works are hand-woven using cross-weaving techniques, and in his favourite medium: silk.
