To create a corporate video that can be used for capability marketing as well as for VIP visits. And also to re-purpose it into a 3-minute video, to be used for the launch of the facility.
A mere 5 weeks to the deadline from script to screen. This had to cover pre-production, production and post-production. To add to the complexity of the process, it also had to adequately represent the different stakeholders involved in the project (a consortium comprising MINDEF, Singapore Armed Forces, Jurong Primewide Pte Ltd, Certis Cisco, MMR Services, SMM Pte Ltd, Megitt) As this was also an operational firing range, balancing access to the location with availability of on-screen talents, were a major undertaking.
3 weeks were spent on on scripting story-boarding, location recce, mood boards, references and pre-production meetings. 4 shoot days were spent on location with a lighting and camera crew.
Shot with the Red Epic Cinema Camera, this corporate video was finished in 1080p HD, although the resolution was 5k cinema. The video you’re watching here, is compressed for streaming. Do click on the pictures to have a closer look at the frame grabs from the corporate video.
It was an intensive 4 weeks of pre-production planning, combined with juggling logistics, crew and approvals from various stakeholders across the consortium members involved… right down to 4 days of filming which involved crane and dolly shots and 1 week of post-editing and then finishing in Autodesk Smoke.
The indoor range was completed and placed into service in February 2013, and was commissioned by the Singapore Defense Minister, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, on October 4, 2013.
Watch and get an insight into this complex which replaces an existing outdoor live firing range, includes two 50-meter and four 100-meter shooting ranges; and two re-configurable urban operations training facilities to hone individual and team marksmanship, as well as judgmental skills. This massive range features custom-designed lighting to support day and night shooting exercises. All these, combined with the climate-controlled environment, is expected to save significant training time and resources.
